Smallville rewatch 2026

Hold my snark, I'm going in! Bit less of a proper blog post this time, and more of a short list of notes and thoughts. But I thought I'd add this rewatch to the archive as well. Last time was 2024.

Jeremy in the pilot

"That's impossible, he'd be like 26 today!"

Lololol, I wonder how old that actor actually was when this was shot – *googles*.

Smallville fandom wiki: "He has the look of a 14 year old boy" – Nooo he doesn't.

"Adrian Glynn McMorran (born December 3, 1964)" – And the pilot was shot in 2001. So he was like 36/37! Holy shit. 14 year old boy 😂  Could have been the father of a 14 year old boy. Wild! It's still nuts how old everyone is in this show, pretending to be 14/15-year olds.

Jonathan

My partner, who's watching with me, keeps half-jokingly saying stuff like, "Jonathan is the real villain" etc. Referencing how he's being so mean to Lex. 

I agree that Jonathan was definitely partially to blame for a lot of things happening in this show, but I wouldn't call him villainous. He is just very overprotective of Clark, and that's causing some issues. He's basically like, "I just wanted to run my farm and live my simple life. My wife talked me into keeping him [the baby], and now I love him dearly, but god, I did not sign up for all this weirdness, I just want him to be safe".

Like, Jonathan would have been a perfect dad to a normal, human boy. It's kinda unfair. But that's life. 

"You're the perfect son. So, so why did Jonathan Kent always seem so stressed? I mean, was raising the perfect son really that much work? I wonder how much of a strain it put on his heart?"

This is such a great line. I love the realness of it. I misremembered when Lex said this, and I thought it was evil Lex when he was split in two. The fact that it was "real" Lex that said it just makes it even better.

Perfect line. ❤️ Superman in a nutshell. Wish there was more of this in the show.

Krypt'n

My partner pointed out early on in the rewatch that the British actors on the show sometimes mispronounce Krypton. I didn't believe him. Thought it was only Marlon Brando in Superman the Movie that did that. And there it was, in season 9. The planet Krypt'n. 😂 Both Zod and Jor-El says it, multiple times. Omg.
