Superman (2025) teaser trailer thoughts

Superman | Official Teaser Trailer was released yesterday. My initial reaction was kinda "...eeeeeeh? 😄". 

On one hand I'm very happy that this seems to be going for more colour and positive, sort of quirky vibes. On the other hand, I have a sneaking suspicion that this might swing too far in that direction and be too whimsical. I'm so hard to please. 😆 The DCEU was too dark and bleak. All-star Superman (for example) was way too "odd" for me. I'm also not a big fan of the old Christopher Reeve films, and I hope they keep the references to that to a minimum.

I'm also a tiny bit sceptical since this is James Gunn, as I'm not the biggest fan of Guardians of the Galaxy. My main issue with GOTG might be Drax and the "dumb" part of the humour. If we skip that or tone it way down in this film then maybe we'll be ok.

In summary:

Yay:

• It's so bright and colourful! 
• Clark looks noticeably different from Superman. Well done! 
• I LOVE that slowmo scene of him saving a girl from flying debris.
• Him slowly lifting into the air with Lois looks iconic
• New guy (Corenswet) looks the part

Uncertain about:

• Krypto. Hmmm. Though, James Gunn has managed to get the audience to be completely fine with a talking racoon, so might be ok.
• Spit curl. Ugh. Looks better than on Routh's Superman at least.
• Other Superheroes? I guess they were in American alien too, and I loved that one.

Worried about:

• Hope Clark won't be full strength "oh golly miss Lane" 😬 His facial expression as Clark doesn't fill me with hope...

Nay:

• Whyyy does the suit have trunks. It's such an outdated look. Suit looks great otherwise though.
• I will die on this hill: Stop it with the old John Williams Superman theme, god. Sounds cool and all, but do 👏 something 👏 completely 👏 new 👏. Seriously.

It's being released on July 11th 2025. That's basically a birthday present for me, yay! The sprog will be over a year old by then. I hope he'll be ok with staying with the grandparents for a few hours then. Because this movie is a must-see. And we haven't been to the cinema since before he was born. I looked it up, it was Godzilla x Kong in early april.
